It has been noted for the quality of its fiction and general articles, contributed by a long line of distinguished editors and authors that includes James Russell Lowell, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and Oliver Wendell Holmes.
For 150 years “The Atlantic” defines and redefines the "American idea." It is, as it was in the beginning, a magazine for thinking people — serious and comic, touching and tough, The American Idea paints a fascinating portrait of who we are and where we are going.
